Terms of Service

How FurQuote Works

Last updated October 26, 2026. These terms apply to everyone who uses FurQuote, as a dog owner or as a groomer.

Pilot. FurQuote is in a pilot in Miami-Dade and Broward. Payments run in test mode until FurQuote announces otherwise, so no real money changes hands yet. These terms are a plain-language draft and will be reviewed by an attorney before real payments start.

1. What FurQuote Is

FurQuote connects dog owners with independent groomers from Boca Raton to Florida City. Groomers are independent businesses, not employees of FurQuote. FurQuote takes the payment, holds it while the groom is arranged, pays the groomer and keeps a fee. Dogs only for now.

2. The Fee, and Who Pays It

On every completed groom, FurQuote keeps a platform fee of $15 or 15% of the price, whichever is higher. The groomer pays this fee out of the price. The dog owner is never charged anything on top of the price shown. Card processing costs come out of FurQuote's fee, never out of the groomer's share or the owner's price. Amounts are worked out in whole cents, rounded to the nearest cent.

FurQuote keeps its fee only when a groom was booked and the dog owner caused the loss: a completed groom, or a late cancellation that is charged (section 6). When a groomer cancels or does not show up, or the owner cancels early, FurQuote keeps nothing.

3. Prices

A dog owner can either pick a groomer at that groomer's listed price for their dog's size and the service, or name their own price. The lowest price FurQuote accepts is $35. A listed price is the groomer's own; a groomer can change their list at any time, but a request already sent keeps the price it was sent at.

4. The Card Hold and When You Are Charged

When a dog owner sends a request, FurQuote places a hold for the full price on their card. Nothing is charged yet. The card is charged only when a groomer accepts the request. FurQuote is the seller that appears on the card statement, and it pays the groomer their share afterwards.

A request can be for a time more than 24 hours away and at most 7 days away. If no groomer has accepted it by 24 hours before the start time, the request closes and the hold is released. An owner can cancel an open request at any time before it is accepted, and the hold is released right away.

5. Contact Details and Privacy Between the Parties

Before a groomer accepts, they see the dog's profile and the ZIP code, never the owner's name, phone or address. Once a groomer accepts, they see the owner's name and phone, and a mobile groomer also sees the address where the groom happens. A salon groomer never sees the owner's home address; the owner sees the salon's address once the booking is accepted.

6. If the Dog Owner Cancels

More than 24 hours before the start time: full refund. Nobody is paid and FurQuote keeps nothing. Exactly 24 hours before still counts as early.

Less than 24 hours before the start time (a late cancellation): the first late cancellation in any 90-day period is free, with a full refund. Every later late cancellation within 90 days is charged 50% of the price: FurQuote keeps $15 of it and the groomer receives the rest, as compensation for the lost slot. For example, on an $80 groom cancelled late, the owner is charged $40, $15 stays with FurQuote and $25 goes to the groomer.

Once the hand-off PIN has been entered (section 8), the groom has started and can no longer be cancelled.

7. If the Groomer Cancels or Does Not Show Up

If a groomer cancels more than 24 hours before the start time, the owner is refunded in full and the request goes back out to other groomers at the same price and time with a new hold. The groomer's first early cancellation in 90 days carries no penalty; each one after that is a strike.

If a groomer cancels less than 24 hours before, or does not show up, the owner is refunded in full and the groomer receives a strike. A no-show is reported by the owner within 24 hours of the start time and reviewed by FurQuote.

Three strikes pause a groomer's account for 30 days. A paused groomer still serves the bookings they already have and cannot take new ones. Strikes do not expire.

8. The Hand-off PIN

Every booking has a 4-digit PIN that only the dog owner can see. The owner gives it to the groomer at hand-off: when the groomer arrives, or when the dog is dropped off. Entering it proves the groomer showed up and the groom started. The PIN is not a rating of the result; quality problems go through section 9.

If no PIN is entered and neither side reports anything within 24 hours after the start time, the groom counts as completed and is paid on the normal schedule.

9. Complaints About the Groom

A dog owner can flag a problem with the groom, with photos, within 24 hours of the PIN being entered. The groomer then has 48 hours to offer a redo or a partial refund, which comes out of the groomer's share. FurQuote's fee is not affected. If the groomer stays silent for 48 hours or the owner turns the offer down, FurQuote decides, and any refund is capped at the groomer's share. A redo counts as done when the owner confirms it or after 7 days of silence.

10. Reporting a Dog Owner

A groomer can report a dog owner after a bad booking, for example a dog described inaccurately. FurQuote reviews the report and can pause the owner's account for 90 days or close it to new requests.

11. Paying Groomers

Groomers are paid through Stripe. A groomer's share of each completed groom is sent to their Stripe balance and paid to their bank every Friday for their first three months; after that they may switch to daily payouts. A groomer must finish Stripe's payout setup, including identity and bank details, before they can accept a request.

12. Groomer Accounts

Groomers apply with their business details, photos of their work, experience and a driver's license, and are approved by FurQuote before they appear to owners. A groomer's license stays on file in private storage to prevent duplicate accounts. Groomers who cancel often may be reviewed. Nobody can sign up as an administrator.

13. Rescue Partners

When a dog owner signs up with a shelter or rescue's link or code, FurQuote contributes $5 out of its own fee to that rescue for each of the owner's completed grooms, 48 hours after the hand-off PIN. The owner pays nothing extra and the groomer's share is unchanged. This is FurQuote's contribution, not a donation by the owner, and is not tax-deductible for the owner. The rescue is chosen once, at sign-up, and cannot be changed later.

14. Changes and Contact

FurQuote may update these terms. Changes apply to requests made after the update, never to a booking already made. Questions: hello@furquote.app. What FurQuote stores and who sees it is in the privacy policy.
